Privacy Policy — ActiveMind
Last updated: April 15, 2026
Hi. This is the privacy policy for ActiveMind, an iOS app built by Chuy Dominguez. I wrote this in plain language because you deserve to know what's happening with your data, and the short version is: almost nothing.
The short version
- Your data stays on your iPhone. The app is local-first. I don't have a server, there's no analytics, no tracking pixels, no ad network, no third-party SDK that phones home.
- Apple Health data never leaves your device. ActiveMind reads your steps, sleep, and heart-rate data from HealthKit to show you things. It never uploads any of it.
- iCloud sync is optional. A few items (streak, mood check-ins, journal, profile, weekly review) can sync across your own Apple-ID devices via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. That's Apple's encrypted iCloud — I can't see it. You can turn this off in the Profile tab.
- Two external services are queried — Google Maps (nearby places + photos) and Open-Meteo (weather). Only coarse location is sent. Neither service receives your name or any identifying data.
- No ads. No tracking. No analytics. No accounts.
What's collected and where it lives
On your device only (never sent anywhere)
- Name, step goal, and interests you choose during onboarding
- Mood check-ins and journal entries
- Activity history and streak
- Home location for the "Exit Confetti" animation (stored in iOS Keychain, encrypted)
- Rot Clock timestamps
- Sleep analytics history
Synced to your own iCloud (encrypted by Apple, not readable by me)
- Streak counters
- Mood check-in history
